Department of Civics and Ethical Studies

The program, which was running under the School of GaDS, was separately organized as Department of Civics and Ethical Studies under the college of Law and Governance since 2018 GC with the objective to expand and better serve the mission of enhancing citizenship and morality aspects of citizens,. Currently, there are two bachelors (BA and BED), one MA and one DED (Doctor in Education) programs under Civics department.

Undergraduate Programs

BA in Civics and Ethics

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Civics and Ethical Studies is an undergraduate degree focused on understanding civic responsibilities, ethical principles, government systems, and social justice issues. It equips students with foundational knowledge in political science, ethics, and community engagement, fostering responsible citizenship and ethical awareness. The study completes in 4 years.

BEd in Civics and Ethical Education

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Civics and Ethical Education is an undergraduate program designed to prepare future teachers and educators in the fields of civics, ethics, and democratic principles. It emphasizes pedagogical skills, civic responsibility, and ethical reasoning, enabling graduates to effectively teach and promote civic participation and moral values in schools. Its study takes 5 years for Regular and six years for summer modality.

MA in Civics and Ethical Studies

MA in Civics and Ethical Studies is a postgraduate program that explores the principles of citizenship, civic engagement, ethics, and responsible leadership. It aims to deepen students’ understanding of democratic values, social justice, and ethical decision-making in public and private sectors. The program is opened in 2015 for summer intake modality and the completion time is 3 years.

Doctor of Education in Civics and Ethical Studies

Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Civics and Ethical Studies is a doctoral program focused on developing advanced knowledge and expertise in civic education, ethics, leadership, and social responsibility.
